8 Amazing Branson Shows for Families

Branson has rugged mountain landscapes, beautiful lakes, and other astonishing natural attractions. But what's really made this city famous over the years is its amazing collection of live Branson shows. People come here from all over the world to see singers, dancers, magicians, comics, and all kinds of other performers. With all the top-notch Branson shows, it's the Las Vegas of the Ozarks!

On your next Branson vacation, you might see one of your favorite celebrities or an up-and-comer who'll soon be a superstar. This list of amazing Branson shows for families will give you just a few ideas of the onstage delights that await you.

Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater

Dick Clark is a fond memory for multiple generations! He hosted the TV show "American Bandstand" for 30 years. This iconic broadcaster and game show host’s legacy lives on at this concert venue on 76 Strip.

The next time you're in the area, the American Bandstand Theater might be hosting a renowned singer like Lee Greenwood or Peter Noone, a world-famous comedian like Jimmie Walker or Vicki Lawrence, or a seasonal spectacular for the whole family. Plus, it often presents tribute artists who look and sound just like the genuine article.

In addition, Area '57, an outdoor space right next to the American Bandstand Theater, frequently hosts classic car shows. And there's often a vintage automobile parked in front of the theater.

Sight & Sound Theater

The performers at Sight & Sound Theater perform biblical stories on a grand scale. This theater opened in 2008, but its sister facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has been open since 1991. The two theaters look almost exactly alike and offer the chance of a lifetime to experience a spectacular performance.

With each of its Branson shows, Sight & Sound Theater gives the audience an extravaganza. The costumes are gorgeous. The sets are enormous. The music is completely original, and the special effects dazzle. And, as a fun bonus, live animals are included in these performances for an extra level of authenticity.

Showboat Branson Belle

About 10 miles from Branson, you'll find picturesque Table Rock Lake. A great way to travel across this lake is on a showboat. Specifically, you can take a two-hour journey aboard the Showboat Branson Belle. It's a lovely vessel that's been wowing passengers for more than two decades. In fact, it looks like a watercraft Mark Twain would've been proud to pilot. Once onboard, you can shop and dine in style, admire the mountain vistas and watery views, and enjoy a first-class show.

The Showboat Branson Belle puts on a variety of productions. They include gospel performances, Christmas recitals, and an evening of pop standards presented by live singers and a four-piece band. You might be lucky enough to see the Deckhands, a group of dancers and percussionists with meticulous choreography and rapid-fire beats.

Dolly Parton's Stampede

It's easy to be a Dolly Parton fan. Since she recorded her first song at the age of 13, Dolly's been winning over the public with her infectious cheer and massive talent. At Dolly Parton's Stampede, you can spend an evening basking in the type of joyful music and Southern hospitality for which Dolly is known.

This dinner show includes comedic performances, trick horseback riding, fireworks, flying doves, and an irresistible four-course meal. Be warned: You might hum this show's catchy music for weeks on end.

Moon River Theatre at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center

With a voice as smooth as velvet, Andy Williams delighted listeners for many years. He was a variety show host, a recording artist, and a peerless live performer. Today, Andy's Branson theater, which is named after his most famous song, presents the kind of family entertainment that he loved.

The Moon River Theatre debuted in 1992. When he built this venue, Andy helped to diversify the city's music scene. Before that time, Branson shows had been devoted almost exclusively to country music.

This theater is surrounded by lush foliage and has an art gallery. Throughout the year, it hosts tribute shows honoring artists like Bruce Springsteen. Great singers—not just impersonators—routinely appear at the Moon River Theatre as well. On top of that, you can catch incredible illusionists there.

Presleys' Country Jubilee

More than a half-century ago, the Presleys took Missouri by storm. No, not Elvis and Priscilla—their names were Lloyd and Bessie Mae. Working with a few other couples, these Presleys built the first theater in Branson dedicated to country music. It opened in 1967 and it's still going strong. Indeed, its Branson shows are legendary.

Lloyd and Bessie Mae were singers, but their first musical venues weren't exactly prestigious. They began their careers by playing inside the caves and caverns of the Ozarks. Today, Gary and Steve Presley, their sons, perform at their parents' theater instead of hanging out in caves. The Jubilee shows feature stars of gospel, bluegrass, and country, and they throw in some wacky slapstick comedians for good measure.

Branson Famous Theatre

The Baldknobbers are another local tradition that have recently changed venues to the Branson Famous Theatre. Believe it or not, they were here way back when the Presleys appeared in their first Branson shows. The Baldknobbers are members of the Mabe family. They sing gospel and country, and they're as funny as stand-up comics. These days, many of the Baldknobbers are the children and grandchildren of the original performers.
