Relax with Welk: DIY Face Mask & Bath Salts Recipes

It’s always important to take a few minutes to enjoy a little pampering and self care—especially when you're unable to visit the spa. The good news is, you can easily whip up everything you need for a relaxing at-home spa experience with ingredients you may already have. There’s no better time than now to give these great DIY face mask and bath salts recipes a try. Papaya & Honey Face Mask

Sit back, relax, and give your skin a refreshed look with the natural enzymes from papaya and the natural acne reducer honey.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small papaya, cubed

  • 1 teaspoon honey

Directions
Mash papaya in a bowl with a fork until it forms a smooth pulp. Mix in honey. Apply to clean, dry skin and allow to sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water, pat dry, and apply moisturizer. Leftovers can be used on neck or stored in refrigerator for future use.

Oatmeal DIY Face Mask

If you spent a little too much time in the sun or want to soothe irritated skin, oatmeal is a great, calming option that can also act as a gentle exfoliator.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons raw oats

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1/3 banana

Directions
Mash the banana into a paste in a small bowl. Add the oats and honey and mix. Spread mixture onto your face and then massage into the skin for about 3 to 5 minutes. Leave mask on for approximately one hour, then rinse with warm water, pat dry, and apply moisturizer.

Chocolate Face Mask

For a delicious, edible DIY face mask, you can combine antioxidant-rich cocoa with great sources of moisture like avocado and coconut cream.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup coconut cream or avocado

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 3 tablespoons oats

Directions
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply to clean, dry face and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water, pat dry, and apply moisturizer.

Coffee Tumeric Mask

Coffee isn’t just a great way to keep yourself perky. It can also keep you looking fresh on vacation and soothe puffy eyes with this simple DIY face mask!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons ground coffee

  • 2 tablespoons turmeric

  • 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt

Directions
Mix ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply a thin layer over entire face, making sure to put it under the eyes. After 20 minutes, wet a towel with warm water and use the damp towel to gently wipe off mask. Rinse face with cold water and apply moisturizer.

Rosemary Lemon Epsom Salts

For a light, refreshing soak in the tub, enjoy the fresh scents of lemon and rosemary with the gentle cleansing power of baking soda.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Epsom salt

  • 3/4 cup baking soda

  • 10 drops lemon essential oil

  • 3 tablespoons rosemary

  • 3 tablespoons lemon zest

Directions
Combine epsom salt and baking soda in a bowl. Mix in half of the lemon oil until evenly mixed. Add remaining drops and finish mixing. Mix in rosemary and lemon zest and store in an airtight container.

Oatmeal Lavender Bath Soak

Soothe irritated skin and tame a pesky sunburn with a gentle oatmeal bath soak that relaxes you with comforting lavender.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups old fashioned oats

  • 2 tablespoons dried lavender buds

  • 1/2 cup baking soda

Directions

Combine all ingredients and add to a food processor. Grind for about 3 minutes until the texture becomes fine and powdery. Place mixture into an air-tight container and store in a cool, dry space.

To enjoy a relaxing bath, pour about a third of the mixture into warm water and soak for 15 to 30 minutes.

Tea & Epsom Bath Salts

After a long day out and about, relax sore muscles and help loosen stiff joints with a warm soak in Epsom salts infused with calming teas.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Epsom salt

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1/2 cup body wash

  • 1 tablespoon peppermint tea

  • 1 tablespoon chamomile tea

  • 8 drops essential oils

Directions
In a bowl, mix together epsom salt and tea leaves. Once mixed thoroughly, add body wash and mix until evenly distributed. Gradually stir in olive oil and essential oils until well mixed. Place in a sealed container and store in a cool, dry place.

Bubble Bath

Take a little time for yourself and sink into a luxurious bubble bath that helps your stress float away.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups mild liquid body soap

  • 1/3 cup vegetable glycerin

  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chamomile essential oil

  • 3 drops vegetable food coloring (optional)

Directions
Combine all ingredients and mix until completely combined. Pour into sealable container.
