Dr. Kim “The Parentologist” Visits Welk Resorts San Diego
When Dr. Kim (known by many as the Parentologist) brought her family to Welk Resorts San Diego, they had a weekend getaway that was filled with sun, fun, and adventure. Keep reading for her personal take on all the unique activities and resort features that made it a trip to remember for her family!
My husband, two children, and I recently stayed at Welk Resorts in San Diego for the weekend and it was so much fun! We love to travel and get away from the daily hustle and bustle of our lives so this was the perfect getaway for our family!
The resort is so big and beautiful and we loved being tucked away, surrounded by all of the trees and mountains. We loved taking morning walks around the resort to get some exercise, vitamin D, and fresh air. The grounds are so peaceful it was a great way to start the day, and the views are simply spectacular!
“Our villa came with all the appliances, utensils, and everything else we could possibly need.”
As a mom, I loved how spacious our villa was and that I could save money by bringing food from home to cook in our kitchen like pancakes, hot dogs, and sandwiches. We also brought a bunch of snacks so we could even have a movie night with popcorn! Our villa came with all the appliances, utensils, and everything else we could possibly need. I’m not kidding—want a measuring cup? A frying pan? A Tupperware bowl to take a sandwich to the pool? Maybe some cleaning supplies? Our villa came with sponges, silverware, glasses, bowls, and even some electronics like a blender, a toaster, and so much more! I was also excited to pack less because I knew I could do laundry in the room if we needed. To me, this is so much easier and better than a standard hotel room without these types of amenities.
While at the resort, my husband loved playing golf on the 450-acre executive golf course and the kids loved the playground, splash pad, pools, and water slides!
As a mom with two little ones, it was important to me to travel somewhere where we can relax, but also have a lot to do for the kids to keep them busy and entertained! We all loved roasting s’mores by the fire and listening to live music as one of the resort’s many INSPIRED For You daily activities to choose from during our stay!
“We truly felt like we could unplug…”
We also loved that we didn’t need to leave the resort for any reason during our stay. We truly felt like we could unplug and like we were completely on vacation. We could walk to everything including the onsite Market to grab a coffee, do some shopping, buy some groceries, or eat a meal! But if you really wanted to, the beach, Safari Park, San Diego Zoo, Sea World, LEGOLAND, and even Disneyland are an hour or less away!
We had the most amazing weekend and created some special family memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to come back again and or possibly travel to one of the other Welk Resorts locations in the future!
