The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recently issued new requirements that all travelers on international flights coming to the United States receive a negative result from a COVID-19 test prior to returning to the US.

In response to this new mandate, we have instituted onsite testing to help our valued Owners and guests. We have provided FAQs below to help you understand your options and what to expect.

 

When do I need to take my test?
All travelers are required to receive a negative COVID-19 test result a maximum of 72 hours before their day of return to the US. Testing will take place in a safe and secure designated room onsite from 9am to 2pm daily.

 

Will there be onsite testing?
Yes. These tests will be available by scheduled appointment from 8am until 11am daily. Guests will be required to sign a waiver before taking the test, and the waiver will include additional conditions. Results will be delivered on the same day.

 

Do I have to take my test at Welk Resorts?
No. Taking the test at Welk Resorts is voluntary. Guests are not required to take the test in order to check in or check out, it is being offered as an optional courtesy. Welk Resorts cannot guarantee test results. Please note that CDC guidelines may change at any time, and Welk Resorts may update this page if material changes are issued and received.

 

Will PCR testing be available onsite?
No. Onsite testing will be rapid antigen testing. CDC guidelines specify that either PCR or antigen test results are valid for air flights. PCR testing will only be available at an external testing location at your expense. Our Front Desk or Concierge can help you schedule an appointment for testing at a local health facility. Current pricing is approximately $300 USD. Results are delivered 36–48 hours after the test has been administered.

 

How do I schedule onsite testing?
You can schedule your appointment with the Front Desk or Concierge upon check-in or during your stay. Please be sure to schedule your appointment no more than 72 hours before you leave.

 

What is the cost of onsite testing?
Initial and subsequent tests will be complimentary for guests with a reservation at Sirena del Mar.

 

How long will the test take to complete?
The rapid test takes approximately 5–10 minutes per person. Your results will be provided later that same day.

 

What if I am unable to make my scheduled testing time?
If you are unable to make your original testing appointment, another time can be arranged. However, you will have to make a new appointment at the Front Desk or Concierge.

 

What happens if a guest tests positive for COVID-19?
If you or a member of your party test positive for COVID-19, you are welcome to quarantine onsite at Sirena del Mar. We are offering reduced rates for accommodations to help those who are unable to travel because of a positive test result. Guests seeking a follow-up test onsite will be required to quarantine for 7 days after their first positive test before a subsequent test will be administered.

 

What amenities are available if I quarantine onsite?
Guests with a positive COVID-19 will need to avoid common areas and remain in their designated room for quarantine with the exception of leaving the property. Room service will be available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at an additional cost. For the safety of our employees, housekeeping services will not be provided during quarantine. Toiletries, linens and any other items needed during quarantine can be dropped off with no-contact delivery.
