Returns to the Welk Resorts Theatre, San Diego

Mitzi Gaynor will once again light up the Welk Resorts Theatre San Diego stage on October 8 and 9, 2013 for three special performances of her critically acclaimed multimedia musical-comedy memoir Razzle Dazzle! My Life Behind the Sequins.

Razzle Dazzle! My Life Behind the Sequins is an intimate evening of laughs, love and music which critics have called “sensational,” “hysterically funny”, “enormously entertaining” and “a total star-spangled package of energy and joy.”  In this glittering one woman tour-de-force, the star of blockbuster Hollywood musicals including Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, (celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2013) Les Girls, Anything Goes and There’s No Business Like Show Business shares side-splitting stories, poignant reminiscences and intimate reflections from her star-studded life and career – from often hilarious anecdotes about her famous friends and costars including Gene Kelly, Ethel Merman, and Marilyn Monroe, to her romance with Howard Hughes, and the joyous 52 year marriage to the love of her life, Hollywood producer Jack Bean.  This unforgettable love letter to a great era of show business features stunning video footage culled from Mitzi’s television, concert and film work, breathtaking costume creations by Bob Mackie and a musical cavalcade of Hollywood, Broadway and Pop hits.  Razzle Dazzle! My Life Behind the Sequins is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the magic and incredible spirit of a true entertainment icon.

Director/Producer Joshua Carr is at the helm for this classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical masterpiece that focuses on WWII and the developing relationship between a Frenchmen and an Arkansas girl who grapple with issues of racial inequality in those times.  With lush, beautiful musical numbers such as Bali Hai, Some Enchanted Evening, Cockeyed Optimist, There Is Nothing Like a Dame and Wash The Man Right Outa My Hair this will be a sure fire crowd pleaser!  San Diego favorite Ray Limon choreographs and Welk regular Justin Gray takes on the musical direction!

The production opens Jan 4th and runs through March 17th.  The Welk is excited to be offering Sunday matinees once again and Saturday evening performances as well as Wed and Thurs shows. Call the box office at 888-802-7469 or visit for showtimes and tickets.
